NEW RULE #1 – Amex Platinum Card Family Rule
The Amex Platinum Card has new restrictions that may prevent you from getting the welcome offer on different versions of the card (e.g. the Schwab Platinum Card, Morgan Stanley Platinum Card, etc.). Here’s what the Offer Terms now say on the regular / vanilla Platinum Card:
“You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card, the Platinum Card from American Express Exclusively for Charles Schwab, the Platinum Card from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley or previous versions of these Cards. You also may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer based on various factors, such as your history with credit card balance transfers, your history as an American Express Card Member, the number of credit cards that you have opened and closed and other factors. If you are not eligible for a welcome offer, we will notify you prior to processing your application so you have the option to withdraw your application.”
The language may vary slightly on each version. As of the posting of this video, I did not see similar language for the Morgan Stanley version. However, I’d still be cautious.
NEW RULE #2 – Amex Platinum Card Delta Sky Club Access
Starting February 01, 2025, the American Express Platinum Card will issue 6 complimentary visits to Delta Sky Clubs per Program Year (Feb. 01 – Jan. 31). You can get unlimited access if you spend $75,000 on your Amex Platinum Card per Calendar Year. Note: Amex will begin tracking your spend in the year prior (example: Spend $75K from Jan. 01 – Dec. 31, 2024) to unlock access in 2025.

NEW RULE #3 – Delta SkyMiles Credit Card Family Rule
All of the personal Delta credit cards have restrictive language in their Offer Terms. This include the Delta SkyMiles Blue, Delta SkyMiles Gold, Delta SkyMiles Platinum, and Delta SkyMiles Reserve cards. Be sure to read them prior to applying for any of the cards to understand if you’re eligible for the welcome offer.
NEW RULE #4 – Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards: Access to Delta Sky Clubs
Starting Jan. 01, 2024, the Delta SkyMiles Platinum Amex card will no longer offer any access to Delta Sky Clubs. Only the Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card will grant you access up to 10 complimentary visits per Program Year (Feb. 01 – Jan. 31). Similar to the Amex Platinum Card, you can get unlimited access if you spend $75,000 on your Delta Reserve Card per Calendar Year. You’ll still receive 2 complimentary guest passes per Cardmember Year.
