The Chase Ink Business Preferred has a new welcome offer! You can now earn 100K Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $8K in the first 3 months (previously it was $15K).
The value of these points is $1,000 for cash back or $1,250+ towards travel via the Chase Travel portal.
Fortunately, you don’t need a standard “business” to qualify. That is, there’s no requirement to have an LLC, partnership, or corporation. You can apply as an individual (i.e. as a sole proprietorship) and use your SSN instead of an EIN. As long as you have a side hustle / make money outside of a 9-5 job, then you may be eligible to apply for a business credit card (including the Chase Ink Business Preferred)!
The Chase Ink Preferred also earns points in the following categories:
– 5X Lyft (thru March 2025)
– 3X Travel*
– 3X Advertising* (Social media sites, Search engines)
– 3X Internet, Cable, Phone*
– 3X Shipping*
– 1X Other Purchases
*Up to $150K in combined purchases per cardmember year in 3X categories, then 1X.
The annual fee is $95.
Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth 1.7¢ each (on average) when redeemed via Chase Transfer Partners, 1.25¢ each via the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal or via the Chase Pay Yourself Back feature, and 1.0¢ each as cash back (i.e. statement credit or deposit to a checking account or savings account).

IS THE CHASE INK PREFERRED WORTH IT?
– Likely YES if you want a super strong signup bonus, spend in the 3X rewards categories, and value points that are good for cash back and great for travel. It can also make sense if you want excellent insurance protections and have other Chase credit cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points. Examples include the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve, plus the Chase Freedom Flex and Chase Freedom Unlimited, all of which are on the personal side. There’s also the Chase Ink Unlimited and Chase Ink Cash. All of these Chase credit cards earn the same type of points (Ultimate Rewards points) and can be pooled together!
– Likely NO if you don’t value the 3X categories, don’t like credit cards with annual fees, or are over the Chase 5/24 Rule.
