Norm Hann is a sponsored Canadian paddleboard athlete and racer with Boardworks Surf Canada, a Quiksilver Waterman Ambassador and Paddle Canada SUP Instructor Trainer. Originally from Sudbury, Ontario but now based in Squamish, B.C. Norm runs Mountain Surf Adventures which focuses on coastal expeditions and standup paddleboard instruction. As an SUP expedition leader, his paddleboard trips to the Great Bear Rainforest have been featured in Explore Magazine, Sierra Magazine, Standup Paddle Magazine, The Art of Standup Paddle Boarding, and British Columbia Magazine.
His work in the Great Bear as a guide, educator and coach led to a special relationship with the community of Hartley Bay. In 2006 he was adopted into the Gitga’at First Nation and given the name T’aam Laan which means „Steersman Canoe.”
Norm has also been active in the conservation and protection of the Great Bear Rainforest and the British Columbia coastline through his 2010 Standup4Greatbear documentary and his recently completed expedition to Haida Gwaii as part of the Standfilm Project.
