California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara’s deal with the insurance industry is a Bait and Switch on consumers – it won’t get a single new homeowner covered. Instead, companies will sell a low-benefit policy that’s no better than what homeowners can get on the FAIR Plan today.

We need more than the bare-bones coverage. Every Californian who meets state wildfire guidelines for home-hardening and brush clearance should have the right to buy insurance in California.
