„How herders learn their herder skills and knowledge”

Certain practices of farming were formerly passed on from father to son, but in today’s world they seem to get lost and are missing from modern textbooks. Experiences of many generations have been accumulated, and for that very reason this knowledge shouldn’t be forgotten. Moreover it should be reintroduced to schools with the help of modern educational methods. That is the main goal of the project ‘SAGITER’ of the Leonardo Union.
This film shows the knowledge generation of traditionally working shepherds young and old alike. It is about the diverse sources of herder knowledge and diverse ways of inter- and intragenerational knowledge transmission of herding skills.
