National Canadian Film Day 2020 Recap

National Canadian Film Day was launched in 2014 and it quickly grew to become the world’s largest one-day festival. Every year, Canadians all over the world gather and watch great Canadian films and honour our film artists. Our team has been planning this celebration for months when the entire world was destabilized by COVID-19. It quickly became evident that we would have to cancel more than 1000 live screening events, but we never considered canceling #CanFilmDay entirely. It was important for us to find a way to come together virtually during a difficult period of isolation. #CanFilmDay was able to unite Canadians everywhere in a unique way like never before.
